Seorae Global Village Center is offering a special class in English on Korean modern literature on Feb. 3.
The class will give expats the chance to learn about 20th century Korean literature and better understand the Korean psyche and the country’s culture.
Writer Shim Ah-jin will explain three short novels that have been translated into English and French. The three novels are “Spring Spring” by Kim Yu-jeong, “The Rainy Spell” by Yun Heung-gil and “Sword” by Lee Seung-woo.
“We have offered other cultural events like food or Korean classes so far. Now, we think it is good time to give lectures on Korean literature, too.” said a spokesperson for the Seorae GVC.
“The three novels were chosen because they reflected the times well and have already been translated into English.”
The event will take place at Seorae GVC from 1 p.m. and is free of charge.
The center is considering more lectures on Korean literature depending on the response to the class on Feb. 3.
