Park Ri-hye
Park Ri-hye, wife of South Korean baseball pitcher Park Chan-ho and a trained chef, is to host a new food show for a local cable TV channel.
“Park will host a show titled ‘Homemade cook by Park Ri-hye,’” Olive TV, a cable channel owned by CJ E&M, said in a press release. “This is the first time for her to share her recipes (with the audience) as a solo emcee,” it added. The weekly show runs on Tuesdays.
The program will feature Park’s lifestyle in Seoul and her secret recipes that she created for her sports star husband. The former Major League Baseball star and his family now live in Seoul as Park recently signed with Korean team, the Hanwha Eagles.
Park, 36, studied at the Culinary Institute of America in New York, and is known to be proficient in classic French and Italian techniques. The third-generation Korean-Japanese has built her culinary career by specializing in Japanese cuisine. But her marriage to the baseball star in 2005 drew her interest to Korean food and led her to publish a cookbook titled “Ri-hye’s Kitchen” in 2009 in Korea.
