Farm helpers to get taste of tofu

Feb. 22, 2012 - 19:56 By Korea Herald
Volunteers are being invited to take part in a tasty farming event as part of Mannam’s cooking class on March 17.

Participants are being invited to visit the grandmother of one of the volunteer chefs who lives alone in a rural area and needs help on her farm.

Volunteers who can assist her will be rewarded by learning the grandmother’s secret recipe for homemade tofu.

Those attending must pay for their own transportation and lunch. They are invited to bring their own food or deposit 10,000 won to have Mannam volunteer chefs buy ingredients to prepare food at the farm.

All volunteers must pre-register and should meet at 11 a.m. at Yangpyeong Station in Gyeonggi Province, two hours outside of Seoul.

Twenty volunteers are needed to help farm and clean up. They will help farm, deliver manure and mix it into the ground before returning to Yangpyeong Subway Station for 5:30 p.m.
