AngloINFO aims to become go-to expat site

Aug. 21, 2012 - 20:33 By Korea Herald
A new site is on offer to help expats find their way around Seoul.

AngloINFO, a global network, aims to provide everything you need to know about living in, or moving to Seoul, from getting a driving license to using the health care system.

Director of AngloINFO Seoul Han Ye-sung said that the site had grown in terms of visitors since its launch at the end of May. The site received 250,000 page views in june, rising to 440,000 in July.

Bloggers are also a feature of AngloINFO’s output, but there are none for Korea yet. Han is looking for about five Korea bloggers to contribute to the site, the main benefit of which, she said was an increase in audience.

Han said the strongest part of the Seoul site was the directory.

“Other sites have directories, but they are very small, or it’s mostly restaurants,” she said. “People are already requesting entries because they are starting to recognize that we have all the listings and they don’t want to be left out.”

The site is part of a global network with 2.5 million users that operates over 65 regional websites in more than 30 countries.

Han said that the sites spread mainly when people who use AngloINFO move to a new place, explaining that she had used the site in Holland before bringing it to Korea.

The network began in France and has most of its activity in Europe but recently has seen increasing activity in Asia. As well as Seoul, there are sites in Singapore, Hong Kong and Thailand and others planned in Tokyo, Guangzhou and Tianjin.
