Sept. 25, 2012 - 20:29 By Korea Herald
The Saemaul Undong Central Training Institute will conduct a Saemaul training program for foreign students in Korea on Oct. 5-6.

The Saemaul Undong, or New Community Movement, is an economic initiative started in 1970 in Korea, and is credited with spurring Korea’s economic growth in the ensuing decade. It has been suggested by the United Nations as a model for developing nations.

Students from developing countries are invited to the overnight training program in the SUCTI Auditorium.

The program includes two lectures, a question and answer session, discussion, video presentations, a tour of the Saemaul Museum and participation in a cultural festival in both Korean and English.

Students who participate in the program will be given certificates and souvenirs. The program is free, with travel expenses covered by SUCTI.

To apply, please log in and download the application form and send it to globalsmu@naver.com with scanned copies of your passport and student identification by Sept. 28.

For further inquiries, call (031)780-7833.
