A 14-year-old girl filed a claim against San Diego Unified School District, saying a teacher told her to urinate in a bucket instead of visiting the bathroom.

The teen, whose name was not reported, said in the $25,000 claim Gonja Wolf refused to let the student leave the classroom and ordered her to use the bucket in a small room and empty the contents into a classroom sink, the San Diego Union-Tribune reported Wednesday.

The freshman at Patrick Henry High School said she complied with the teacher's instructions because she urgently needed to use the bathroom but called the teacher's instructions "humiliating." The teen said she believes Wolf gave her the instructions within earshot of other students to discourage them from asking to use the restroom.

Psychological and medical expenses for the teen, as well as the cost of transferring to another school, will cost in excess of $25,000, the claim said.

"As a result of said incident, (the student) has suffered emotional distress arising out of this humiliating and depraved punishment. She has been teased by classmates and remains extremely embarrassed," the March 8 claim said.

Wolf has been put on paid administrative leave pending an investigation of the Feb. 22 incident. (UPI)
