The nation’s first 55-inch OLED TV mass-produced by LG Electronics was put on display at the National Museum of Korean Contemporary History in Seoul on Tuesday.

OLED is third-generation television technology after the first-generation cathode ray and second-generation LCD and DVD TVs.

LG Electronics is displaying eight products it mass-produced for the first time in Korea, including OLED TV, at the museum. The other seven items are a black-and-white television set, a refrigerator, a telephone, a radio, an electric fan and an air conditioner.

LG Electronics started to receive reservations for 55-inch OLED TVs throughout the world on Jan. 2 and began shipping the product on Monday.

Officials said that they hoped the exhibition would help the company become the “first mover” in the third-generation TV market, shedding the image of being “the fast follower” in the first and second-generation stages.
