Police chief dismissed after porn scandal

April 10, 2012 - 14:27 By Korea Herald
British police chief inspector Mark Brew, 47, has been fired after he was caught using a work phone to download pornography.

Brew, who had under his command more than 100 officers on Merseyside’s Matrix anti-gun unit, admitted to using his police-issued phone to watch porn and exchange messages with two women colleagues.

“We can confirm that a misconduct hearing took place last week for a serving police officer. Following this hearing, the officer, a chief inspector, was dismissed with immediate effect for gross misconduct,” a Merseyside Police Spokesperson told the Daily Mail.

Brew also allegedly left a junior officer in charge of a conference while he met up with a married lover, who confessed to the charge.

On top of it all, Brew was accused of using the police force as a personal taxi service, ordering a junior officer to escort him home to Liverpool from a conference in London.

Merseyside Police faced criticism in 2011, when five of its officers were sacked for "behaving inappropriately" after taking unprofessional photos in a house they should have been searching.
