A 16-year-old Texan was given a 20-year sentence after pleading guilty to stabbing his mother‘s boyfriend to death early this year.

The teen, whose name has not been released, apologized for his actions before being sentenced Tuesday by District Juvenile Court Judge Laura Parker, the San Antonio News-Express reported.

"I know what I did was wrong,” he said.

The teen was arrested Feb. 15, shortly after he fatally stabbed his mother’s boyfriend, Neo Gomez, in the chest.

Before the stabbing, the teen‘s mother and Gomez had gotten into an argument when Gomez brought a prostitute home. Gomez pushed the mother and threw a table during the argument, police were told.

The teen told police he was tired of hearing his mother and Gomez fight.

He will spend the next three years at a Texas Juvenile Justice Department facility. After that, he will either be paroled or ordered to spend the remainder of his sentence in an adult prison.

“He’s a good kid,” defense attorney Raymond De Leon said after the hearing. “He realized he made a mistake and if he continues to do well, he‘s going to get paroled.”(UPI)

이름이 공개되지 않은 이 10대는 화요일 소년 법원에서 형을 선고받았다. 산 안토니오 뉴스 익스프레스는 소년이 판사 앞에서 "제가 잘못했다는 것을 알고 있습니다,"며 자신의 행동을 뉘우쳤다고 보도했다.

이 소년은 지난 2월 15일 어머니의 애인인 네오 고메즈의 가슴에 치명적인 자상을 입히고 바로 체포되었다.

사건 당시 소년의 어머니와 애인은 심한 말다툼을 벌이고 있었다. 말다툼의 원인은 어머니의 애인이 집으로 매춘부를 데려왔기 때문. 언쟁이 심해지면서 고메즈는 소년의 어머니를 밀쳐 넘어뜨리고 테이블을 집어던지는 등 폭력 행위가 일어났다.

소년은 그들의 싸움에 넌덜머리가 났다고 말했다.

이 10대는 일단 텍사스 소년원에서 3년을 보낸다. 그 뒤 가석방 되거나 남은 형기를 성인 감옥에서 보내게 될 것이다.

소년의 변호를 맡았던 변호사 레이먼드 드 레온은 "착한 아이다,"라며 "그 아이는 자신이 잘못했다는 것을 알고 있다. 그가 앞으로도 양호하게 행동한다면 가석방 될 것이다"라고 덧붙였다.
