[Graphic News] Key dates for US presidential race

Jan. 30, 2024 - 08:01 By Nam Kyung-don

Former US President Donald Trump easily won New Hampshire’s primary over former UN Ambassador Nikki Haley, seizing the lead in the race for the Republican nomination. He also made a November rematch against President Joe Biden feel nearly inevitable.

Out of the Republican candidates, Florida Gov. Ron Desantis suspended his campaign before the New Hampshire primary. Poor finishes in Iowa’s leadoff caucuses also ended the White House bids of biotech entrepreneur Vivek Ramaswamy and former Arkansas Gov. Asa Hutchinson.

On the Democratic side, Biden won his party’s primary in New Hampshire, but did so via a write-in effort. The Democratic National Committee had voted to start its primary in South Carolina in February, but New Hampshire had pushed ahead with holding its own contest first. Biden didn’t campaign or appear on the ballot there, but nonetheless through the write-in campaign came in first over 21 little-known challengers.

Here’s a look at when and where caucuses and primaries for Republicans and Democrats will take place up until Nov. 5. (AP)
