BTOB Sungjae ‘confident’ about portraying one-sided love

Oct. 27, 2015 - 17:58 By 원호정
Boy group BTOB member and actor Yook Sung-jae said that he’s “confident about playing someone in unrequited love.”

At a press conference for his current drama “The Village: Achiara’s Secret,” Tuesday at the SBS Ilsan Production Center in Goyang, Gyeonggi Province, Yook was asked how he felt about his character’s subtle romantic feelings for the character played by Moon Geun-young. Yook plays a police officer named Woo-jae, while Moon plays a teacher named So-yun.

“My fans tell me that I’m an actor who specializes in unrequited love,” said Yook, laughing. “I keep playing characters who are in one-sided love. I think I’ve become confident about playing someone in unrequited love.”

“Personally, I don’t think (Woo-jae’s relationship) will work out until the end,” he said, while Moon nodded in agreement.

Meanwhile, Moon told reporters that she was impressed by Yook’s acting talent, saying that he “didn’t seem like a rookie.” She also noted that if Yook had debuted as an actor instead of with BTOB, he “still would have become very famous.”

“The Village: Achiara’s Secret” focuses on a small village called Achiara, which seems peaceful and uneventful until the body of a young woman is suddenly discovered -- and the dark secrets of the villagers are exposed one by one through the search for the murderer. It airs every Wednesday and Thursday at 10 p.m. on SBS.
