The bombing of Darwin in 1942 is known as the day World War Two came to Australia, as military personnel and their families are a major part of the fabric of the Top End. It made Remembrance Day ceremonies in the Territory all the more significant as hundreds gathered in Darwin and Alice Springs to mark the solemn occasion.
