A number of EXO fans have fallen victim to an online prank in which a netizen gave the address of a Gangnam police station as a fanmail outlet, according to the Seoul Metropolitan Police Agency.

The station has been receiving fan letters addressed to members of EXO since late last year. A representative of the police station said Thursday that they currently have around 8-9 boxes filled with letters to the boy band, with some fans sending letters as many as three or four times.

Although the police cannot confirm with certainty, authorities suspect that the letters are a result of an online prank. A fan had posted a question online regarding where to send mail to EXO and someone posted a response saying, “Send it to Daechi 2-dong, Gangnam-gu 998.” But that is the address of a police station, not EXO’s managing agency.

Police are currently in the process of organizing and returning all the letters to their senders.
