Electric vehicle expo revs up on Jejudo Island

An international expo for electric vehicles kicked off on South Korea’s Jejudo Island on Friday.

Major automakers will showcas their latestechnologies for eco-friendly vehicles, according to the expo organizers. t EV models and share views on the current and future 

A total of 145 companies including Hyundai Motor, Renault Samsung Motors, BMW and Nissan will be joining the 3rd International Electric Vehicle Expo, or IEVE, that will last until Thursday.

Among the 20 EV models that will be displayed, Hyundai Motor is expected to unveil its EV version of the Ioniq hybrid. The Ioniq is the company’s first dedicated green car model based on its own platform.

Renault Samsung, the largest EV maker in terms of sales in Korea, will showcase three vehicles, including the SM3 ZE and the two-seat Twizy. Nissan’s best-selling Leaf will also be on exhibition.

EV battery makers like LG Chem and Samsung SDI will also present their latest technologies and products, the organizers said.
