Newly promoted football club Suwon FC picked up a point in their first division debut on Sunday.
Suwon FC visited the Jeonnam Dragons for their first K League Classic match and came away with a 0-0 draw at Gwangyang Football Stadium in Gwangyang, South Jeolla Province.
Suwon FC earned a promotion from the second-tier K League Challenge. Though they've lost some key players over the offseason, Suwon held their ground against Jeonnam on the road.
Jeonnam were in control early with a trio of imported attackers, Stevica Ristic, Mislav Orsic and Vedran Jugovic, taking charge. Ristic nearly put Jeonnam on the board at the half-hour mark on a one-on-one chance, but Suwon goalkeeper Park Hyeong-soon denied the Macedonian forward.
Suwon fought back as forward Lee Sung-hyun's header just missed the left post in the 37th.
Suwon kept knocking on Jeonnam's door in the second half but settled for the goalless draw.
Elsewhere in the K League Classic, host Jeju United defeated Incheon United 3-1 at Jeju World Cup Stadium in Seogwipo, Jeju Island.
Lee Kwang-sun opened the scoring for Jeju with a 32nd-minute header. Park Se-jik evened the score for Incheon in the 63rd, but Jeong Woon scored on a free kick in the 79th to put Jeju up 2-1.
Four minutes later, Gwon Han-jin added an insurance goal for Jeju to round out the scoring. (Yonhap)
