[Herald Interview] ‘Personalized service key to success of Hilton Namhae resort’

Dedicated and personalized service is key to the success of Hilton Namhae Golf & Spa Resort in South Korea, which has been awarded as the country’s leading resort by the World Travel Awards for eight consecutive years, its general manager said.

“People are now searching for a lot more information through the various media and this makes them want a more personalized holiday matching their own preference not the travel agents’ preference,” said Jesper Bach Larsen in an interview. 


“The backbone of the hotel, the team, is the real winner of the awards. It is through their personalized and great service that our guests feel valued and cared for.”

The annual award names top resorts through online voting of tour experts and guests from around the world.

Located on Namhae Island against the beautiful backdrop of ocean and mountains, the resort features some 150 suites, 20 grand villas, complete with its own 18-hole PGA-style golf course and marina.

Bach Larsen, who has been the general manager of Hilton Namhae since May 2013, stressed the resort’s efforts to satisfy a diverse range of guests ― from business travelers to family vacationers.

“I believe that our diversity in service is a key factor. We can cater to most people and our staff speak several different languages, including English, Chinese and Japanese,” he said.

Among locals, particularly families with children, Hilton Namhae is one of the most luxurious and popular summer vacation destinations.

It is also a top choice for international business travelers, offering unrivaled services for formal business events as well as a chance for participants to unwind after meetings.

Bach Larsen revealed a plan to renew its children’s program and the popular barbecue for the upcoming summer holiday season. It currently runs Kidz Paradise playgrounds, open every day, and on weekends, a diverse range of activities such as cookie-making, face painting and making magic balloons.

“The summer is a great time for the hotel. It’s when the (hotel) team shows off all their energy and creative minds to help our guests enjoy the break,” he said.
