Hankook Tire, South Korea’s largest tire-maker, said Thursday it will be supplying two different rubbers for Atego trucks made by Mercedes-Benz.
Under the original equipment tire arrangement, Hankook will supply eight types of its AH11 and DH05+ products for the light-to-medium trucks made by the German automotive company.
The latest deal comes after Hankook started supplying tires for Freightliner brand trucks in North America in 2012. Freightliner is a marque of Stuttgart-based Daimler AG that controls Mercedes-Benz and Smart Automobile. Last year, the South Korean company began equipping Mercedes-Benz’s S, E and C classes of luxury sedans with its tires.
Hankook said the AH11 and DH05+ have been designed to resist uneven wear, have excellent durability and offer optimal driving characteristics.
The tires that have wide treads offer firm grip even on wet surfaces, have good breaking qualities and can contribute to better fuel economy for the trucks, it said. (Yonhap)
