LG Electronics said Sunday that it would start rolling out Google’s new Android 5.0 Lollipop upgrade for its flagship smartphone G3 this week starting in Poland.
Other G3 users will be also able to receive the upgrade for the operating system from this month.
“LG is absolutely committed to giving our customers the best mobile experiences available, and bringing Android Lollipop to G3 owners as soon as possible is a top priority,” said Park Jong-seok, president of LG Electronics’ mobile communications company, in a press release.
The latest Android OS features a range of new features including new fonts, a new layout for notifications, and new clock designs.
LG said it would soon announce the upgrade schedule for other handheld devices.
Rival global smartphone makers Samsung Electronics and Xiaomi are also said to be making last-minute efforts to bring the upgrade to their smartphones.
Some pictures being circulated online show that Samsung is testing the new mobile OS with its marquee Galaxy S5.
