Former SG Wannabe member Kim Jin-ho and pop artist Santa are holding a collaboration exhibition titled “Hangang Ae” (“Han River Love”) at Sinsa-dong’s Jaemi Gallery from Aug. 12 to 17. The title comes from the singer’s first solo album released in February.
Santa works directly under iconic ’90s singer and musician Seo Tai-ji and is known for his recent collaboration with the design team for energy drink Hot Six in creating the character for Hot Six Light.
“Han River Love” features 34 pieces that combine Kim’s photographs with Santa’s illustrations.
For close to a month and a half, the pair roamed around different parts of Seoul, such as the Hangang River and Samcheong-dong, to capture candid photographs of the scenery and people in everyday urban life.
Kim, a singer known for his strong vocal skills, has reportedly always been interested in photography, often carrying his camera around with him. He also personally shot the cover for his first solo album.
Meanwhile, Kim held a street performance on Sunday in Hongdae in front of hundreds of spectators. He sang classic SG Wannabe songs such as “As I Live” and also performed tracks from his first solo album such as “Chimaek,” “I’m Curious” and “A Love without Anything.”
SG Wannabe is a ballad trio known for their strong vocals. The group debuted in 2004 with the hit “Timeless” that shot up the charts. They have stuck to the principle of appealing to fans with their music alone, declining to appear on music shows or even in their own music videos.
The exhibition launched on Aug. 12 with a VIP opening party. It will continue until Aug. 17, when a closing party, talk with the artists and a performance will take place.
“Han River Love” is open to the public Aug. 13-16 from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m.
