President-elect Park Geun-hye on Sunday named transition team spokesman Yoon Chang-jung as a Cheong Wa Dae spokesman.
According to news reports, vice chairman of the social network news service Wikitree Kim Haing was also named as a presidential spokesperson. Kim had served as the spokesperson for the party established by Rep. Chung Mong-joon of the Saenuri Party in 2002. Chung was then an independent lawmaker, and the party was dissolved in 2004.
The main opposition Democratic United Party immediately criticized Yoon’s selection saying that it was “very regrettable that Yoon, whose appointment (as transition team spokesman) has been shown to be an error of judgment, has again been chosen.”
The DUP also questioned the decision to make the selection known late Sunday evening.
The DUP had heavily criticized the president-elect when Yoon, an outspoken former journalist, was named as the transition team’s spokesman.
