About 200 people came together in Detroit in a flash mob dance to promote the United Negro College Fund‘s 5K Walk for Education.

The participants danced the wobble Saturday at the band shell on Belle Isle, the Detroit Free Press reported.

“I think it was good,” Mike Simon, 54, who participated in the dance.

UNCF development director Angela Bingham said she was pleased with how the event turned out, even though she had hoped for more participants, and that the dance’s creator, rapper V.I.C., would make an appearance. Bingham said V.I.C. was asked to come, but he could not make it due to scheduling conflicts.

Bingham said the flash mob event prompted 20 people to help out at the 24th annual walk and some people to donate money. Organizers of the August walk are hoping to raises $450,000 for scholarships. (UPI)

미국 디트로이트의 플래시몹 댄스 현장에 200명이 참여하여 미국 흑인 대학 펀드가 주최하는 "교육을 위한 5km 걷기" 행사를 홍보했다고 한다.

디트로이트 신문은 참가자들이 21일 토요일 벨아일에 위치한 음악당에서 춤을 췄다고 전했다. 

플래시몹에 참가한 쉰 네살의 마이크 시몬씨는 "좋은 경험이었다"고 기분을 표현했다.

 미국 흑인 대학 펀드의 안젤라 빙헴 개발부장은 더 많은 참가자와 이 춤을 만든 래퍼 V.I.C.가 오기를 기대했으나 전반적으로 이번 행사가 만족스럽다고 밝혔다. 그녀는 래퍼 V.I.C가 이번 행사에 초대 받았으나 일정 때문에 올 수 없었다고 덧붙였다.

빙헴은 플래시몹으로 인해 20명이 24일 걷기 행사에 지원하기로 했고, 기부자들도 늘어났다고 전했다. 이 걷기 행사의 주최자들은 8월 행사에 45만 달러(5억 원) 정도의 기부금이 모이기를 기대하고 있다.
