A fully automatic washing machine made by LG Electronics Inc., South Korea’s leading consumer appliance maker, was named the best product by an authoritative U.S. magazine, industry sources said Thursday.

Consumer Reports said the top-loading washing machine received the highest marks among 81 products tested and was the only model to receive an “excellent” rating in washing capabilities, sources said.

The WT4801C model that features fully automatic temperature control, a detergent dispenser and fabric softener functions also received a “very good” rating for low noise level.

The monthly magazine that publishes reviews and comparisons of products and services, praised the washing machine for the small amount of water used in its cleaning cycle and for its good energy efficiency.

The latest recognition comes as LG’s washing machines have received positive reviews from consumer organizations in countries such as Australia, Spain and Italy.

A company spokesperson said the latest recognition is expected to further strengthen its corporate image as a producer of excellent home appliances.
