Park Yong-hyun
Park Yong-hyun, chairman of Doosan Group, was appointed on Tuesday as the 8th president of Korean Business Council for the Arts. Park will lead the council for three years.

Park has been expanding Doosan’s mecenat programs since becoming chairman in 2009. The surgeon-turned-CEO graduated from Seoul National University Medical School in 1968 and worked as a surgeon until 2007. He served as the head of Seoul National University Hospital from 1998 to 2004.

“The level of culture and art should follow the economic level if a country should be a truly developed one. I will further develop the council’s existing programs such as supporting cultural life of the low income households and matching businesses with art organizations, and find other ways to expand mecenat projects in Korea,” said Park in his acceptance speech.

Park Young-ju, the former head of the council, received the title of honorary president of KBCA.
