Book club to meet in Seoul

Jan. 25, 2012 - 21:58 By Korea Herald
A club to discuss books on North Korea and refugees from the country is to be held on Jan. 29 at 2 p.m. The meeting hosted by 10 Magazine book reviewer John Mensing will discuss texts including “The Cleanest Race” by B.R. Myers and “North Korea Through the looking Glass” by Kongdan Oh and Ralph C. Hassig. Other books to be discussed include “Nothing to Envy: Ordinary Lives in North Korea” by Barbara Demick, “Under the Loving Care of the Fatherly Leader: North Korea and the Kim Dynasty” by Bradley K. Martin and “Somewhere Inside: One Sister’s Captivity in North Korea and the Other’s Fight to Bring Her Home” by Laura Ling and Lisa Ling.

Those wishing to attend do not need to have read the books as long as they are interested in hearing about the texts from those that have read them, or have an interest in North Korea.

The book club will meet in Caf Bene Basement a short walk from Itaewon Subway Station’s exit 2.
