Scots party held for charity

Jan. 25, 2012 - 21:57 By Korea Herald
A Burns Night Charity Ball is to be held in Ulsan on Jan. 28. The celebration to mark the anniversary of the birth of Scotland’s national poet Robert Burns will be held to raise money for local charities.

The event has been organized by ten expats hailing from the U.K., Germany, India and America, all working in the marine and offshore industry here.

The initial party will be held at Hyundai Hotel, Ulsan, from 6-11:45 p.m. and will include a five course dinner, champagne and fine wines, as well as a connoisseur whiskey tasting bar. The food and drink will be followed by an after party in a separate dedicated bar expected to run into the early hours.

Around 250 guests are expected to attend with all profits going to charities including the Ulsan Children’s Leukemia Charity and the Ulsan Orphanage. Also to benefit is the Big Light Church, which provides meals and activities for disadvantaged people.

A ceilidh band is being flown from Edinburgh, Scotland, to provide traditional music for the night. There will also be a selection of raffle prizes and an auction for exclusive items.
