Oct. 10, 2011 - 14:35 By
Seoul city government is holding a Korean food competition through YouTube until Oct. 31, with a chance to win a four-day trip to Seoul.

Foreigners residing outside of the country are eligible to apply for the contest. Participants are required to create a video clip of a Korean dish combined with their local cuisine and upload it on YouTube at www.youtube.com/visitseoul.

Five winners will be selected and announced on Nov. 4. The winners will take a culinary trip to Seoul from Nov. 23 to 26, sponsored by the city government and Asiana Airlines.

It will feature Korean cuisine cooking experience with Korean chefs, kimchi making, visits to famous Korean restaurants and cultural events, on top of round trip airline tickets and accommodation.

The city government expects hallyu or Korean wave in TV dramas, movies and music to spread to Korean food culture through the audition, officials said.

“We hope the cooking audition will further stoke global interest in Korean food and enhance understanding of the Korean culture, and attract more foreigners to Seoul,” city officials said.

Videos will be evaluated in terms of popularity, creativity and understanding of Korean cuisine.

Five winners will also hold a final cooking competition during their trip to Seoul, in which Korean food experts and chefs will select the final winner.
