GM Korea launches Malibu midsized sedan

Oct. 3, 2011 - 16:15 By
GM Chevrolet’s new model, the Malibu, will debut in Korea on Tuesday, GM Korea officials said Monday. A live stream for the launch will be available online, they added.

The introduction of the Malibu comes six months after the company’s announcement that the new model will go into production at the Bupyeong complex’s plants.

Korea is the first among 100 countries where the new model is to be marketed, followed by China and European countries. The company will take pre-orders at the scene with the opening of the ceremony.

GM Korea has traditionally provided the live stream online for the launching show through its page on Facebook, blogs and Twitter, on both computers and mobile phones. During the latest launch of Chevrolet Orlando in February, 240,000 people watched the event online, according to the company.

The officials said the company will present another model, the Alpheon eAssist, within this month. The new vehicle is a hybrid model that saves 30 percent fuel compared to gasoline vehicles.
