Yim Jae-beom sued over assault charges

Popular singer Yim Jae-beom was accused of assaulting an employee of an entertainment agency last month, the police said Sunday.

According to Seocho Police Station, the employee surnamed Kim filed a complaint against Yim, claiming the singer assaulted him.

Kim, 28, said in his petition that he had been assaulted by Yim and his two bodyguards after he asked the singer to turn down the music at an underground studio in Seocho-dong in southern Seoul.

The police said they will summon Yim after interviewing the plaintiff.

Yim, a rock singer known for his distinctive voice and stage style, saw his public profile soar after he joined the popular TV program “I Am a Singer,” where he produced a series of stunning performances.

Driven by the show’s publicity, the songs he sang on the program have been climbing major music charts. His latest song for the new SBS drama “City Hunter” has also become an instant hit.

서울 서초경찰서는 유명 가수 A(48)씨가 폭행 혐의로 고소돼 조사할 계획이라고 21일 밝혔다.

경찰에 따르면 A씨 소속사의 자회사 전(前) 직원이라고 밝힌 김모(28)씨는 A씨 와 경호원 등 3명에게 맞았다며 전치 3주의 상해진단서를 첨부한 고소장을 20일 접 수했다.

김씨는 고소장에서 "지난달 말 회사 사무실에서 작업하다 옆 연습실에서 콘서트 연습 중이던 A씨에게 `작업 중이니 볼륨을 줄여 달라'고 말하자 `건방지다'며 폭행 했다"고 주장한 것으로 전해졌다.

경찰 관계자는 "김씨로부터 고소장 접수 당일 피해 진술 조서를 받았고, A씨에 게도 출석요구서를 발송해 수사할 예정"이라고 말했다.

한편 가수 A씨의 소속사 관계자는 "후배 가수들을 가르치면서 녹음을 하던 중 직원이 볼륨을 줄여달라고 요청하면서 시비가 붙었다"며 "그날 두 사람이 화해한 걸 로 아는데 이런 일이 벌어져 당혹스럽다. 폭행 여부 등 구체적인 상황을 추후 파악 하겠다"고 해명했다. (연합뉴스)
