Hallyu star Ryu Si-won wins car racing competition

Korean wave star Ryu Si-won and his car racing team won an international race in China on Monday, according to reports.

The 39-year-old celebrity won the second round of the Ferrari Challenge Race in Shanghai.

Last month, Ryu won the first round of the race at Zhuhai City of Guangdong Province.

“I feel so great for winning the first and also the second race. I want to express my gratitude to my Chinese fans who came to the airport and racing track (to support me) despite hot weather,” Ryu told reporters after the race.

The singer/actor made his debut in 1994 and has starred in a series of TV dramas over the past 17 years.

He is also one of the most popular Korean stars among Japanese fans, holding concerts throughout the neighboring country.

He is the director and racer of his own pro car racing squad, Team 106.

류시원, 페라리 챌린지 레이스 2회 연속 우승


(서울=연합뉴스)  '한류스타' 류시원(39)이 중국에서 열린 자동차 경주대회 '페라리 챌린지 레이스'에서 우승했다고 소속팀 팀 106이 25일 알려왔다.
 
팀 106의 감독 겸 선수인 류시원은 24일 중국 상하이에서 열린 페라리 챌린지 레이스 아시아-태평양 지역 2라운드에서 우승, 지난달 주하이 레이스에 이어 2회 연 속 정상을 지켰다. 

팀 106은 "이날 류시원을 보기 위해 수백 명의 중국 팬들이 경기장을 찾았다"고 현지 분위기를 전했다. 

류시원은 "2회 연속 우승을 차지해 매우 기쁘다. 더운 날씨에도 공항과  경기장 을 찾아 응원해준 중국 팬들에게 감사를 드리고 싶다"며 "대회 출전 기회를  제공하 고 현장에서도 지원을 아끼지 않은 FMK에도 감사하다"고 소감을 밝혔다.
