Bayer’s impotence drug gets KFDA approval

Bayer Healthcare’s erectile dysfunction treatment Levitra gained import approval from the Korea Food and Drug Administration Tuesday.

Levitra is the first orodispersible tablet that melts inside the mouth and is designed to be easy to swallow without water.

The product was first released in European countries in 2010 and Korea is the first country in Asia to distribute the pills.

According to Bayer, about 152 million men worldwide, about 16 percent of male population between 20 and 75 years old suffer from erectile dysfunction and the number is expected to spiral to 322 million in 2025.
