WASHINGTON (AFP) - Pop diva Lady Gaga has become the first person with more than 10 million followers on Twitter.
"@ladygaga just reached 10 million. Wow!" the San Francisco-based micro-blogging service said in a "tweet" on Monday.
Lady Gaga had 10.06 million followers as of Monday afternoon.
"10 Million Monsters! I'm speechless, we did it! Its an illness how I love you," Lady Gaga said in a message on her Twitter feed.
Another pop star, Justin Bieber, was the next most-followed person on Twitter. Bieber's @justinbieber account has nearly 9.7 million followers.
US President Barack Obama was next with more than 8.02 million followers of his @barackobama account.
Rounding out the top five were US singer Britney Spears with 7.8 million followers for @britneyspears and US television personality Kim Kardashian with

미국 팝스타 레이디 가가의 트위터 팔로어의 수가 1천만명을 돌파했다고 미국 언론들이 16일 보도했다.
이에 따르면 레이디 가가의 트위터 팔로어 수가 15일 오후 트위터 사상 처음으로 1천만명을 돌파했다.
레이디 가가는 팔로어 수가 1천만명을 돌파한 뒤 트윗을 통해 "1천만명 돌파! 할 말을 잊었다. 우리가 해냈다"라고 말했다.
레이디 가가에 이어 가장 빠르게 팔로어가 늘어나는 연예인은 아이돌 스타 저스틴 비버로 팔로어의 수가 965만명에 달한다.
트위터는 지난 4월 가입자 수가 2억명을 넘어섰다고 발표한 바 있다.
