Import car sales decreased 4.6 percent in June from the previous month, largely led by stock shortages and upcoming car launches, a business lobby said Thursday.
According to the Korea Automobile Importers and Distributors Association, foreign carmakers, led by BMW and Mercedes-Benz, sold 12,792 vehicles last month.
The monthly figure is still a 20.9 percent increase from the same period last year. The combined import car sales in the first six months this year were 74,487, up 19.7 percent from a year ago.
The best-selling models of the month included the BMW 520d with 899 unit sales, the Toyota Camry with 587 and the Mercedes-Benz E300 with 481, KAIDA said.
