GM Korea on Wednesday named James Kim, the current CEO of Microsoft Korea, as its new president and chief operating officer. He will begin his duties from June 15.
Kim will report directly to GM Korea president and chairman of the board Sergio Rocha. He will overlook the overall value chain as well as other administrative matters of the company.
Industry watchers forecast that Kim will take the helm of GM Korea following Rocha.

“James has an outstanding track record as a leader at technology, consulting, manufacturing and telecommunications companies in Korea and the United States,” said Rocha.
“James will focus on the operational areas of GM Korea business at a critical time when we are implementing new product programs and driving towards greater competitiveness and sustainability into the future.”
Kim served as country manager and CEO of Microsoft Korea from 2009 after having served as CEO at Yahoo Korea and Overture. He also had a career in the U.S. at AT&T, Vivien International, CORCORAN.com and Palisades Advisors.
