Both mothers and fathers in the United States report having trouble juggling family and work, a study released Thursday said.

The Pew Research Center said an examination of longterm data shows the roles and attitudes of men and women with children are converging.

The center said half of men and 56 percent of women report having trouble with the dual role of parents and employees.

Both genders are almost equally likely to say they wished they could be full-time parents, Pew said. But men are still more likely to say they want to work full-time.

The report was based on a Pew Research survey of 2,511 adults that was conducted between Nov. 28 and Dec. 5 and the American Time Use Survey. The time use survey, sponsored by the U.S. Labor Department, has been conducted annually since 2003. (UPI)

미국의 맞벌이 부부 중 자녀가 있는 남녀 모두 회사일과 양육을 병행하는데 어려움을 겪는다고 미국 연구소가 목요일 (현지시각) 발표했다.

퓨 리서치 센터는 미국 성인 2,511명을 대상으로 작년 11월 28일부터 12월 5일 사이에 설문조사를 실시했다. 

조사 결과 남성의 약 50%와 여성의 56%가 부모와 직장인으로서의 역할을 함께하는데 스트레스를 받는것으로 나타났다. 

또 여성과 남성 모두 아이를 양육하면서 상근 근로자로 일하기 원했으며 남성의 비율이 여성보다 더 높은 것으로 나타났다.

이 조사는 미국 노동부의 후원으로 2003년 이래 매년 치뤄지고 있다.
