South Korea on Monday replaced two injured players on its national soccer team ahead of two upcoming friendly matches.
The Korea Football Association said defensive back Yun Suk-young and midfielder Han Kook-young will miss matches against Switzerland and Russia this month.
The 56th-ranked South Korea will host world No. 7 Switzerland on Friday at Seoul World Cup Stadium and will take on the 19th-ranked Russia in Dubai on Nov. 19.
Yun, who plays for the Doncaster Rovers in the second-division Football League Championship in England, sprained his left ankle during a practice last week.
He’s expected to miss up to six weeks of action, according to Doncaster.
Yun opened the season with the Queens Park Rangers, also in the Football League Championship, but was loaned to Doncaster late last month.
The KFA said Yun will be replaced by Park Joo-ho, a defender with Mainz 05 in Germany’s Bundesliga.
Han, a midfielder for Shonan Bellmare in Japan’s J. League, recently came down with a hip injury. (Yonhap News)
