Trade Minister Cheong In-kyo said Wednesday the government will continue its efforts to attract foreign investment by establishing a business-friendly environment for global companies.

Cheong made the remark during an event organized by the Korea Foreign Company Association, emphasizing all government agencies are working closely to address concerns of foreign investors, according to the Ministry of Trade, Industry and Energy.

"South Korea is also rolling out economic and industrial policies without any disruption, so businesses can focus on their activities," Cheong added.

Cheong also expressed gratitude to foreign companies for making investment pledges worth $34.6 billion last year, setting a fresh high despite business uncertainties here and abroad.

The ministry, too, reaffirmed its continued efforts to maintain the momentum in attracting foreign investment in 2025, including offering more incentives for research and development projects, and establishing a business environment that meets global standards.

The government's recent nomination of former Industry Minister Choi Joong-Kyung as an ambassador for international investment also reflects such efforts, it added. (Yonhap)
