“I’m Solo, Love Forever,” a low-budget show without a single celebrity cast member, has soared to the No. 1 spot on Netflix Korea as of Sunday, surpassing the globally popular “Squid Game 2.”

The Korean dating show, a spin-off of SBS’ “I’m Solo,” presents a hyperrealistic portrayal of singles navigating the challenges of finding a partner. In this sequel, cast members who previously failed to find love on "I’m Solo" were given another chance to meet new ones.

The latest episode, which aired Thursday, featured 10 divorced men and women looking for a fresh start in love. The episode highlighted love triangles, emotional conflicts and tearful moments, eliciting laughter, frustration and a dopamine rush from viewers.

It achieved an average viewership rating of 3.7 percent, setting a new record for its highest ratings since its launch in August 2022. The highest minute-by-minute viewership peaked at 4 percent, according to Nielsen Korea.

On the day, it claimed the top spot in South Korea’s Top 10 series, followed by Squid Game 2 and the SBS talk show “Tails of Tales.”

“Squid Game 2,” which had a production budget of 100 billion won ($67 million), continues to shine globally, maintaining its position as the No. 1 non-English show on Netflix this week.
