Some photos of possible members to debut as a K-pop girl group under The Black Label went viral early this week, leading the agency to announce they are launching a girl group in the first half of this year.
Among those in the leaked photos was Moon Seo-yoon, a granddaughter of Shinsegae Group Chairwoman Lee Myung-hee and the eldest daughter of Chung Yoo-kyung, president of Shinsegae’s department store business.
In the photo, she is seen posing with other girls including actress and model Ella Gross and pop choreographer Bailey Sok at a dance studio that resembles The Black Label's dance studio.
Born in 2002, Moon is enrolled at Columbia University and has over 70,000 followers on Instagram.
Ella Gross is the only one in the photo who is officially represented by The Black Label, having joined the label in 2018 when she was 10 years old.
Many K-pop fans recognized Ella from her photos with Blackpink that went viral in 2018 for her resemblance to the group's member Jennie.
The Black Label stated in a press release Tuesday that they are “preparing for a girl group launch in the first half of this year,” and that “details will be revealed later.”
The Black Label, an affiliate label of YG Entertainment, was co-founded by Teddy Park in 2016 and represents K-pop artists including Jeon Somi, Taeyang and Zion.T, and actor Park Bo-gum.
Park is a renowned producer in the K-pop industry, having produced songs for K-pop legends Big Bang and Blackpink.
