Two South Korean diplomatic missions came under criticism Tuesday after they posted wrong images of the national flag and traditional clothing on their social networking services.

Earlier in the day, Seo Kyoung-duk, a Sungshin Women's University professor well known for his efforts to promote Korean interests abroad, took issue with a Facebook post by the South Korean Embassy in the Czech Republic that depicted a graphic image of a woman dressed in what appears to be Chinese traditional attire.

Seo noted that the South Korean consulate general in Milan also posted on its Facebook page an image of the South Korean national flag with a red circle in the middle akin to the symbol on the Japanese flag.

The consulate general has deleted the post, a foreign ministry official told reporters on condition of anonymity.

"We will inform all diplomatic missions to pay special attention to anything that can cause even the slightest misunderstanding," he said. (Yonhap)
