Artemis aims for the Moon
50 years after Apollo 17 went to the moon, NASA has finally kicked into action its newest moon mission -- the Artemis Program. Artemis 1 launched on Nov. 16, carrying mannequins and robots for test purposes. According to NASA's plan, a crewed Artemis 2 will launch in 2024, and a lunar landing will happen with Artemis 3 in 2025. The Artemis 4 will dock with the Lunar Gateway in 2027.
On Nov. 28, Orion reached its maximum distance from Earth during the Artemis I mission when it was 268,563 miles away from our home planet. Orion has now traveled farther than any other spacecraft built for humans. NASA/UPI
