The Brazilian Embassy in Seoul is holding a photo exhibition in commemoration of the 60th anniversary of diplomatic relations between South Korea and Brazil.

The exhibition “Brazil and Korea Through My Eyes” displays 40 photographs of Brazil and South Korea taken by Brazilian photographer Joao Paulo Barbosa over the past 15 years.

“This exhibition is a strong symbol of the bonds that fortunately unite our two cultures and peoples. It is very interesting to observe that in the globe, Jeju and the southernmost point of Brazil are exact antipodes,” chargé d'affaires Paulo Cypriano said during the opening ceremony at the Brazil Hall on Nov. 18.

“We share some features that were beautifully captured through the lens of Joao Paulo, like nature, folk culture, customs and faith. Most pictures are displayed in pairs, showing the aspects that Korea and Brazil have in common.”

The embassy said Joao Paulo Barbosa chose images of Brazil and Korea that depict “the wealth of their natural beauty, cultural and ethnic diversity, traditions, religions and ideas.”

The exhibition is jointly organized by the Embassy of Brazil, Jeju Special Self-Governing Province and the Federation of Artistic Organizations Jeju.
