LG Electronics Inc. said Wednesday its monthly sales of high-end organic light-emitting diode TVs surpassed the 10,000-unit mark on its home turf for the first time in September on the back of reasonable prices and good consumer responses.
The South Korean tech giant said the figure indicates the company sold one LG OLED TV every four minutes last month.
LG Electronics has been promoting OLED TVs, which boast improved resolution by having each pixel on the screen emit light. Such products are capable of expressing complete black and vivid color compared with LCD products, which need backlights.

In contrast, Samsung Electronics Co. promotes QLED TVs, which adopt so-called quantum-dot technology. The QLED TVs also boast top-notch resolution but still require backlighting.
LG Electronics said it has been making efforts to lower production costs of OLED TVs through technology development to reach out to a wider scope of consumers.
The record-breaking performance is attributable to positive feedback from consumers around the globe, including North America and Europe.
Citing its own survey, LG Electronics said 40 percent of consumers consider image quality as the top priority when it comes to deciding which products to purchase. The company did not provide detailed conditions of its research.
The company said its 55-inch OLED TV is currently priced at mid-2 million won ($1,762), which compares to 15 million won tagged in 2013, when LG first showcased OLED TVs.
The LG OLED TV models account for around 30 percent of the company's annual TV sales in South Korea this year, it added.
LG Electronics said it plans to continue generating solid profits by expanding its presence in the high-end TV industry. (Yonhap)
