Actor Jang Keun-suk’s fan club will donate the proceeds of its photo exhibition to charity to mark the star’s birthday, the actor’s PR agency said Friday.
Y Tree Co. said the club Cri J earned some 75 million won ($66,000) from the photo event held in Seoul earlier this month and will donate all of the proceeds to cover medical costs for sick children and buy food for abandoned dogs.

The fan club annually holds an exhibition with photos of the actor and has been using the profits from photo sales and admission fees for good cause.
Jang attended the event in a show of support.
Jang’s fans have set an exemplary fandom culture where they make donations on his birthday, rather than spending on buying him expensive presents. His Chinese fans followed suit by planting 1,987 trees this year -- the number that represents Jang’s birth year.
His fans also regularly visit Namsanwon orphanage and Aeshindongsan, a shelter for abandoned dogs, for volunteer work.
The orphanage expressed its wish to name a new hall under construction “Jang Keun-suk Hall” to express its gratitude for the fan club’s long-standing support and attention. (Yonhap)
