GM Korea Co., the South Korean unit of US automaker General Motors Co., will begin to sell the Chevrolet Volt electric vehicle in the local market this week, the company said Tuesday.
The Volt EV will be available at any Chevrolet dealership here from Wednesday, the company said in a press release.

The second-generation Volt has what the company called an extended range of 676 kilometers.
The new plug-in hybrid car can travel up to 89 kilometers off its battery after each full recharge, while its 1.5-liter gasoline engine will automatically kick in when necessary to extend its driving range by an additional 587 kilometers.
GM Korea said the vehicle also comes with an eight-year or 160,000 kilometer warranty for its batteries and key parts.
The vehicle is priced at 38 million won ($32,598), but a 5 million won government subsidy and other tax incentives for plug-in hybrid cars will lower its actual price to 31.57 million won, it noted. (Yonhap)
