President Park Geun-hye's close confidante Choi Soon-sil, who is at the center of the corruption scandal that engulfed the country, will attend a trial at the Constitutional Court next week, her lawyer said Saturday.
"Choi has delivered her will to stand as witness in the trial which is underway to decide whether to uphold or overturn the president's impeachment (by early June)," Choi's lawyer Lee Kyung-jae told reporters. The trial is slated for Monday.

On Tuesday, Choi refused to testify as a witness in the trial at the highest court, citing she was under investigation in a scandal where she was criticized for using her ties to the president to extort money and favors from big firms and use them as her personal ATMs.MOST POPULAR
