Ten- and 14-year-old students in South Korea, Singapore, Hong Kong, Taiwan and Japan outperformed their counterparts in other countries in mathematics, according to the Trends in International Mathematics and Science Study 2015, which compares the mathematics and science abilities of 10- and 14-year-old students.
The East Asian countries also proved strong in science education, but the results were varied.
