The police think the bus driver tried to avoid a car that cut into its lane, then hit the guard rail and the median strip before the bus rolled over onto its side at around 9:30 a.m.
Onboard the vehicle were members of an alpine club heading toward Mount Daedun in South Chungcheong Province from Suwon, Gyeonggi Province, to see autumn foliage.

“The bus suddenly moved in a zig-zag pattern and turned over,” Lee, one of the survivors, said.
The 70-year-old added, “It was chaotic, with the car seats damaged and people falling on top of each other. I was hanging onto the safety belt until rescuers came.”
