Hyundai Motor’s flagship compact sedan Avante became the fourth best-selling car among 1,382 models in 2015, selling 913,152 units globally, industry data showed on Oct. 24.
Toyota’s Corolla nabbed the top spot selling 1.49 million units, followed by Volkswagen Golf with 950,235 units, and Ford F Series pickup, with 921,785 units, according to data compiled by the Best Selling Cars Blog, which provides statistics on auto sales around the world.
Avante, marketed as Elantra in some overseas markets, was followed by Ford Focus with 828,709 unit sales last year.

Hyundai Motor put five other vehicle models in the top 50 best-selling cars list in 2015, including Accent (14), Tucson (21), Sonata (39), i10 (44) and Santa Fe (45).
Hyundai’s smaller affiliate Kia Motors had three vehicle models ranked in the top 50 – Pride (31), Sportage (33) and K3 (43).
Together, Hyunday Motor and Kia Motors -- which form the world’s fifth-largest automotive group --placed the most, nine vehicles, on the 50 best-selling list.
Meanwhile, Volkswagen’s six vehicle models were ranked in the top 50, while Honda, Nissan and Ford each had five vehicles.
