The members of girl group April were appointed promotional ambassadors for eco-friendly school meals by the Seoul Metropolitan Government on Wednesday, according to the group’s agency DSP Media.

The group will be featured in subway posters, online videos and other advertisements promoting eco-friendly school meals.

Mayor Park Won-soon presented trophies to the group at a ceremony held Wednesday morning at Seoul City Hall.

On Oct. 20, April will participate in a public forum for eco-friendly meals hosted by the city government.

The city’s organic meals project, now in its fifth year, monitors ingredients supplied to school cafeterias, educates students on eco-friendly eating and promotes conversation on clean food.

The band was selected to promote Korean food at the 2016 Global K-Food Fair held in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia last Saturday as the only K-pop group to be invited to the festival, DSP said.

The group debuted last August with the EP “Dreaming,” and won the Korean Entertainment Arts Awards for Rookie of the Year in February. The five-member group -- consisting of Chaewon, Hyunjoo, Naeun, Yena and Jinsol -- held their first concert “Dream Land” on Aug. 21 and will be holding another in Japan in October.
