South Korean tech giant Samsung Electronics Co. on Monday said it will shut down its two-year streaming radio service, Milk Music, next month, amid media reports that the service has failed to appeal to users.
In a statement posted on the company's website last Friday, Samsung said, "(It is) sun setting its Samsung Milk Music service in the United States on September 22, 2016.
"We have made the strategic decision to invest in a partner model focused on seamlessly integrating the best music services available today into our family of Galaxy devices," Samsung said.
"We believe that working with partners will accelerate innovation, enhance device sales and provide amazing new experiences for our customers," the company said.
In 2014, Samsung launched the free streaming radio service, which is free for users of Samsung's Galaxy smartphones and tablets.
Samsung shut down the Milk Music service in Australia and New Zealand in April this year.
Samsung is said to have urged users of Milk Music to switch to Slacker Radio, a similar service.
The service is still available in South Korea, China and Malaysia. (Yonhap)
